Hotel Skill & Competencies

Executive housekeepers direct and control housekeeping operations and staff of the housekeeping department. An executive housekeeper, co-ordinates between housekeeping crews to inspect assigned areas to ensure standards are met.

A Resident Manager is a manager who lives on the hotel property. He/she is on-call any time of day or night and his purpose is to to assist the General Manager with the smooth and profitable running of the hotel. Resident Managers are sometimes General Managers who live on-site.

Rooms Division Managers oversee a hotel's front desk, guest services and housekeeping department teams. They report to the General Manager and play an important role in ensuring a high level of guest service.

The hotel General Manager (GM) is the person ultimately responsible for a hotel's performance. A GM's ability to make decisions and take action will thus have an important impact on his or her hotel's operational and strategic results.
